Day and night care

Find day care and night care

Nobody is at home during the day, or the nights are so restless that you no longer get any rest yourself? In day care, the person in need of care spends part of the day in a facility and sleeps at home; night care is the counterpart for the night.

Who day care and night care are meant for

It fits when someone wants to keep living at home but cannot be alone all day or all night. The person gets company, a regular routine and the care they need; relatives gain time for work, rest or sleep.

At Pflege Patienten, day care and night care are one shared type of care. In the request you state whether care is needed during the day or at night.

What you state in the request

Preferred days

On which weekdays the person should come – for example Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

Day or night

Whether care is needed during the day or at night.

Transport service

If you need a transport service, note it in the request. Whether a facility offers one you can see, where stated, in its response – otherwise clarify it with the facility directly.

Place and start

Postcode and town as well as the day from which care should begin.

From the first contact to fixed days

1. Post a request

In the portal you choose day and night care and enter the preferred days.

2. Facilities are notified

Registered care providers in the service area whose offer fits the request are notified.

3. Get to know each other

Whether a trial day is possible you arrange directly with the facility that expresses interest.

4. Agree fixed days

You select the facility, both sides confirm. You settle the details in the contract with it.

Combining day care with a home care service

On the days without day care, a home care service can help at home. Because a request covers exactly one type of care, post a second request for this.

Questions about day care and night care

Choose the type that comes closest to the situation and describe the care need in your own words. A request covers exactly one type of care; care providers only receive a request if their offer fits this type. You can change the type of care when editing – services that do not fit the new type are dropped. A care advice service, for example at a care support centre or your long-term care insurance fund, can help you choose.

Yes. In the portal you edit your request, drop services that are no longer needed or end the request, for example once you have arranged the care elsewhere. If no takeover has been agreed for any service after 14 days, the request is closed as 'not placed'; on day 11 you receive an advance warning.

Pflege Patienten is organised regionally. If no matching home care services or care providers are registered for the place you entered yet, nobody is notified of your request and you will not receive any responses. In that case, contact care providers near you directly at the same time, or a local care advice service, for example a care support centre or your long-term care insurance fund. The page 'Regional participation' shows the current status. Whether participating providers can be reached at your place is shown by the care request assistant, before you create an account.

Posting is free of charge – registering and posting a request cost private individuals nothing at Pflege Patienten. This only concerns the platform: what the care itself costs and which services your long-term care insurance fund (Pflegekasse) or health insurance fund covers is something you clarify with the care provider and with your fund.
